SOMETIMES, at least in the first 10 episodes, they will do action with just a solid water color color background. Like a waving blue hehind a character with a mask on. Thats another animism.
The vehicles also sway like anime cars in turns. Go watch the laser disc version of Road Avenger. Or the way ecto 1 drives sometimes in Real Ghostbusters. Japan had a way of driving fast car movement.
Oh and Gloria is kind of drawn like an anime mom. Vanessa is drawn like a feisty woman from bubblegum crisis or Gundam ZZ from back in 86. Someone like Chara Soon. Really, a lot of the humans look like gundam characters from around 86
