The chest plate is still just the vehicle's roof, only spun around, and splitting the windows in half wouldn't affect transformation at all.
This could literally be an upgrade kit, in theory, but unfortunately damn near everything is held together by pins. The only realistic replacement parts to hold out for would be a new head.
