What I did was to turn the shirt outside out, the sleeve inside out and then I pushed the sleeve's sean allowance throught the armhole from the inside. That way, I felt I had pretty good control over their overlap and it allowed me to just push the sleeve outwards afterwards.
Causes serious fitting-issues though and means that I lose a lot of control over where the sleeves end up, I think, so next time I'll seriously use the classic methode in which the side-seam along the sleeve and the side of the skirt's the last to be closed up.
