The doll people started to put them on Poches and Obitsus and started crafting clothes.
My guess is that Nendos are peaking in price (¥5k is getting nuts) so GSC wants in on the doll market. Where ¥3k for just clothes isn't worth batting an eyelash for.
Toy photogs also seem to love the nendolls. They allow for more poses and still carry the face swap ability that really puts Nendos in a league of their own.
Cupoche really missed the boat. Shame coz their proportions are nicer and they did some very nice outfits.
