went at the built-up edge with a 1500 grit sanding sponge, shit disappeared almost instantly, and the rest of the paint is basically completely untouched.
thanks a bunch. will try to varnish tonight (maybe tomorrow since it's still gonna be hot & humid until basically midnight, then the weather will be really nice and mild for a good week or so).
will be gone for a week starting Wednesday so I want to try and be completely done with this, because otherwise I'll be cutting it way too close until Father's Day.
