Get your 5-year old some Fisher-Price Imaginext Batman figures. They're sold everywhere & are are geared exactly to 5 years. Tough, cheap, and lots of play value.
For the price of one of those DCU Batmen on eBay, you can get a decent Batman & Batmobile at Wal-Mart. A DCU figure would break in a day while the Imaginext toys are build for kid smash & bash play. Plus, they have lots of cool missiles & moving parts that's enhances interactive play. What does a DCU have? Maybe a batarang.
Seriously, Imaginext in general is the most fun, kid friendly action figure line out there. GO WITH THIS.
