It's other stuff where he doesn't give a shit. There's an interview or some column he wrote, where he said he doesn't watch tv/movies/comics because he likened himself to being a chocolatier (creator) and how he doesn't want to come home to eat chocolate (fictional stories) after making chocolate all day.
But he's well aware of what other people and companies are producing. It's part of what he does, where he looks at what other people are doing and takes it to the next level. Like when he started making 6" figures instead of 5" figures which had been the standard in the 90s. Or giving them more paint applications. Or increasing articulation. Or improving on the engineering in toys. ETc etc etc.
