I used to hang out at a comic shop pretty often when my buddy worked there. I don't think comics are "dying". Manga and comics also have pretty big cross overs in terms of demographics too. People still come in and buy new issues, and a lot of old issues are sold. I personally only buy trade paper backs now unless it's something I must have, and that's almost never. The last thing I bought was a reprint TPB for Star Wars Thrawn (2018) off Amazon.
