What's funny is that with the later releases, they didn't even edit him out of every scene properly - the part where he pries open the doors to Erebor still uses the old model's forehands instead of the new model's winghands. Right after that scene, you see him still walking on 4 proper dragon legs, before the scene changes to showing him walking on his wings instead. It's a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' moment starting at around 2:35
