>>7461561The topic of GPS is complicated, but short answer: no. The shit that everyone, especially toy manufacturers, used to produce the rich golds and coppery browns has been pretty much retired since we know now it has problems and is pricier anyway.
But we don’t have an absolute tested and scientifically researched explanation of what exactly the problem with it was. The theory was; metallic flakes used in the mix grew/shrank, causing fissures as well as changing the chemical composition of the plastic around it, producing an effect similar to wood rotting.
Since its not verified what happens, we don’t know if the effect can take place in other things they may use now or in the future, or have already used but takes longer to break down.
Its worth noting that cheaply made clear plastic can sometimes do this. It shrinks and discolors. Its not too much of a problem on Matchbox car windows for example, but on stress points for toys that need durability like Transformers it may become one.
Its why many anons FUCKING HATE transparent parts. Worries that light piping eyes may shrink into the head, or limbs will shatter in the future. Or all of it will turn sickly yellow like a SNES in the sun.
But its iffy. GPS was such ashock, and is so poorly understood we don’t know. Bad batches are also a thing, nothing ever goes into 100% solution unless its a solvent.
