I saw this attached pic of the G3 Cleo and Draculara side by side and it looks like only their abdomen, thighs, and forearms are different so I guess the variations in height are definitely coming from the lower legs and abdomens differences.
Coming from the action figure side of the board, I think a lot of the hatred for dolls is because they have rooted hair. Guys will buy expensive She Ra figures all day but the second there's rooted hair on it, it's considered a doll and they don't want it in their collection. Same with the Mezco one:12 figures which are basically articulated action figures with cloth goods clothes instead of sculpted costumes. Plenty have said if any female figure starts has rooted hair, they're avoiding it.
