I know 1/6 isn't that popular here, but the only reason I care about 1/6 is because of Hot toys. Before them there was virtually no difference between the cheapo Hasbro GI Joes and Mattel Max steels and the slightly more expensive($30) Chinese Dragon or 21st century toys or the Sideshow Collectibles figures. They all looked like chintzy shit. Shit your grandma would have on display covered in thick old lady dust. Glorified Megos. Then HT came out and put a level of quality unlike anything before. Faces actually looked good, not like creepy dolls. Cloth looked like scaled down clothing, not burlap sacks. Yes the museum aspect can be boring but having an accurate miniature can be very impressive.
There's a ton of 1/6 Companies out of China/K doing awesome stuff for under $200 these days though.
