I drilled a hole down through the peg at an angle, then used a tiny screw along with a load of epoxy to help hold the thing together, fill the hole, and secure the screw head. It works, and doesn't show any signs of breaking so far, but I'd much rather source out a suitable replacement from another figure if possible.
