Yes it's generally a bad idea to cut or sand something away as it's not like you get it back later, but considering that even after doing so I can't even get the damn things back out again, I think I'm good as far as joint friction goes (super loose leg that she came with, aside).
Not everyone is a hamhands who can't mod their figures, so there's no need to be an ass.
