>>9239032>IMO I think the problem is that the girls who were playing with MOTU liked those figures because they weren't typical girl toys.I mean, I feel like you're probably right, the girls playing with She-Ra and He-Man were the ones who didn't like dolls. Consider the runaway success of Monster High, it was insanely popular and an absolute "counter" to princess and barbie lines. (It blows my mind that the main character of a fashion doll line had a massive, prominent facial scar and no one cared.) Predictably, the day Mattel tried to "soft reboot" it by making it girlier and pinker/softer (to imitate barbie and princesses) the franchise died.
