While he designed the movie cast as more workable as transforming designs as his previous original designs, he still utilized morphing and squashing and stretching parts in ways that were impossible to make into plastic-- and this applies to both genders of his character designs. Just look at things like Hot Rod's morphing windshield-and-side-windows section becoming his pelvis, or how Unicron turns the massive planet pincers into the substantially smaller robot mode horns.
