- Making the feet removable instead of just shoes. This allowed for more diverse shoe types, not just heels but also platforms, sneakers, flats. This was extremely novel at the time.
- Ability to stand on their own. Most Bratz dolls don't need doll stands because the big feet allows for a strong base.
- Stylization based on Y2K aesthetics. See pic related fashion ad from late 90s/early 00s that inspired the design.
- Distinguishing themselves from Barbie as much as possible, which had a monopoly on dolls at the time they originally released (2001).
