>>9310268Some dolls are made in China, which have slightly cheaper materials (Nylon hair, the plastic is lighter/translucent-y, decals for the face) while some are made in Japan which have higher quality plastic, saran hair, airbrush applied faces. As a Licca chan collector, I fully admit if you don't care about the differences, the China made Licca chan dolls are good enough. But I love the more expensive Japan made dolls.
Also Licca sometimes does collaborations that can make them more expensive. Not just the obvious licenses like Hello Kitty and Minions but they also do fashion brand collaborations that even I never heard of the company.
Also Licca does do "Collector" dolls as well but it's hard to pinpoint them unless you're familiar with Licca so it's probably why you get confused about price disparity. It's like coming across a Barbie Style full set and wondering why its not priced closer to a Fashionista even if the base dolls are the same.
Plus with how Covid has fucked up the Japanese postage system, a lot of listings now factor in the postage price in with the main price. Unless you're buying from a Japan based store (I buy from Hobby Link Japan or Hobby Search), or Aliexpress/China based store which can give you actual postage prices, you're being scalped on places like Mecari and eBay since their "free postage" is actually bundled with the base price.
Again, Licca is a lot like Barbie, especially since both of them never change the base doll in ways that looks different enough to justify the price differences. But the differences in quality are present if you're familiar with either, but if you just want a cute Kawaii ass doll, the cheap Licca chan dolls are good enough and don't really matter.
