The whole gay/tranny thing come from the fashion aspect. I don't really care for fashion that much, I just get what looks nice to me. It's not like I've never gotten hard because of what a girl was wearing.
It also has to do with marketing. Barbie/Bratz/etc are primarily marketed torwards girls, while figmas and anime figurines are marketed to men. I feel like Mattel could easily begin marketing Barbies torwards men as commer toys.
Also in some ways dolls are superior to figmas. You can change their clothes/outfits and you can actually feel their hair, which is very important, at least to my autistic brain. However figmas can swap out faces and hand gestures. If only someone could combine the 2.
