1) the toy market in Japan for teenagers and collectors is larger than the children’s market
2) everything in Japan is more expensive compared to a country like America, especially products created exclusively for the domestic market because i) economies of scale (small child population in this case despite high population density), and ii) disposable income in Japan is far higher than any Western country and prices are adjusted accordingly
