I wrote that post just off the top of my head, but now that I actually look at the figure, there is previous little material there to work with as far as tapering and adding texture. The first three links in the finger chain have virtually no surface area to texture, most of them are taken up by hinges, and the sides are already so thin that tapering would have just made them fragile. ThreeA tried to do fingers with even thinner hinges in 1/12 scale, and those things were fucking scary/infuriating to work with. I like that Hellboy's hand feels chunky and sturdy joints-wise, and I don't think I wanna sacrifice that.
Of course, you always have the option of modding it, like this guy did. He lost all the finger joints except the base one, but it doesn't look too shabby and can still emote.
