Is it really that much cheaper to mold huge chunks of the figure in translucent plastic, despite it being much more fragile than opaque, and painting it over with two or three layers of paint and tampos than it is to just mold some small light and windscreen pieces and attach them to opaque plastic with glue or screws? That's not even considering all the time it would take to engineer the clear stuff to be structurally sound enough to clear stress testing and then trying and failing to match the paint with the plastic.
