Sure, you can't really compare G1s to modern figures on technical grounds, but the bricky look and the surprising amounts of metallic and chrome parts has a lot of charm to it, almost like they're a time capsule that combines the design of both Tokusatsu-like robots and early die cast vehicles. It's the same as enjoying classic cars, you're obviously not going to want a Citroën DS or a Volkswagen Kombi because you're looking for a fast, efficient and all around well-performing car as much as you want some form of historically or aesthetically interesting item.
