The problem was that they also aired on ABC on the states, and ABC had much stricter (and insane) rules about what could be shown. YTV was always cool with what ReBoot wanted to do, but everyone had to kowtow to ABC's lower threshold. Then ABC dropped the show after season 2 and Cartoon Network picked it up as its USA distributor. Cartoon Network was more lax in it rules, allowing ReBoot and YTV to do what they always wanted.
Remember in the season 1 episode Talent Night, the one that shits all over a censorship, where the camera pans up on a random robot for no reason? In the original Canadian version of the episode, that robot is one of YTV channel characters, included as a shout out to YTV's cooperation.
