You could use generic pieces to put together bodies of various sizes instead of having dedicated gear box pieces for every new wave. You would mainly need new masks and weapons which is kinda the bare minimum.
Basically imagine a designer being tasked with creating a GWP with current existing technic pieces. You could probably still make something resembling a Bionicle.
