I use nippers but I don't bother sanding, I just hide the numb marks by shaving off what I can with my nippers and finger nails before maybe wiping it off with some water. Works well enough for me! Generally I clean and detail as I go with Gundam Markers, doing test fittings if I need to. I like adding a little extra color to the kit, especially using light grey, kinda like RGs do, to break up all the white. Next I wanna start top coating my kits, so that should help a bit.
I like working my way up from the feet/legs, the the waist, then torso, etc, so when I finish with the next part I can just add it to the kit instead of putting all the different sections together at the end. I also find the unique parts, like the chest, head, and backpack, more interesting and wanna finish with the cool, unique part, not with the 2x feet, you know?
