Look at what happens when you just have a real metal chain just drooping around.
It's like cloth vs plastic capes. Plastic capes are far more dramatic and don't look like pieces of shit even when the cloth is high quality.
Physics in miniature scale doesn't behave like real life objects. Plus, most of these real life objects are hollywoodized and can't actually exist in such a dramatic fashion you see in comics and movies.
Plus do a metal chain with thicker links is far more expensive than just using generic links.
