>>8720537>Kids are little people. They mostly want someone to give a shit. Giving a shit, and not just getting them something to shut them up makes a huge difference. Kids know. They are their own kind of stupid, but they're still human.Yeah, this. The problem is, again, many parents don't even treat their own kids like humans. They patronize them and just want them to shut up. Hence, just buying them a ton of toys or sticking a tablet in their face. My mom wasn't always the best mom, but one thing she certain did right was constantly reading to me and engaging with me as if I were a human. I remembered this, and I do it to kids constantly, whether they're family or not. The result is that kids usually love me because I'm willing to talk TO them and not DOWN to them. It amazes me how thoroughly some people forget what it was like to be a kid.
I'll be curious to see if my little nephew gets into Transformers. He's way too young for them now, but he does love cars, trucks, and construction equipment. Might get him something neat from Rescue Bots or whatever. Something like pic related always looked pretty fun to me, this shit would have been my favorite toy ever if I had it when I was 4.
