That is the price Walmart is more then willing to pay in order to fire all of it's cashiers and replace them with machines who don't need to be paid medical insurance. They already calculated the cost of theft created by self checkout vs keeping humans employed and came to the realization that even with the theft Self Checkout provokes it would save them money in the long run. They know the cost, and they are more then happy to bit the bullet if it means being able to fire all of it's human cashiers within the next 10 years.
