Weight is a better metric, true. I wish someone made price/g charts, possibly with dedicated and non-versatile pieces removed. especially for current sets.
Old sets just looked so much better to me especially wheels and boxy cars (acctually irl cars were kinda boxy back then too, but they were at least objectively more versatile.
