>>6603567>Or the people who tell newbies that if they aren't willing to save an extra $500 for doll acceories after they get the doll their doll will look terrible. To be honest, I don't think this is that far off though.
Bear with me here for a second, but I seriously think people underestimate how much the doll costs after you got it.
Buy that blank, naked doll and then try to get it nicely dressed, painted (or paint it yourself), with proper eyes and a good wig and you will reach that number without even aiming for the best of the best.
Most people won't be happy with their first and only set either, which means they spend additional money till they get to that point of "the doll feels somewhat finished now".
All those shipping costs, trial and errors you will probably go through (unless you are really lucky it usually ends up with buying more than one wig or pair of eyes till you found the right one). The materials you need to pay before you can even do one face-up.
Unless you basically buy all the stuff with the doll (for example through a dealer like Alice's Collection) and then are happy with all your first choices that somehow also all fit I can already guarantee you will spend a lot more than expected. Especially when you are new, unexperienced and don't know yet what to look out for.
Shit adds up fast. Most are just blind to the true costs because they just pay ten bucks here, twenty bucks there over a span of time.
Pretty sure most people will easily reach 500$ throughout a certain time frame till they are satisfied with their doll. Doesn't mean you should scare away the newbies, but when someone asks me for cheap doll recommendations I still tell them that they need to keep in mind that the doll itself will not be their only expense.
