>>7904028As a trainfag I don't like this change. There was literally nothing wrong with the old wheel design and majority of the "arguments" they gave were bullshit. They showed that the new wheels have less friction, that great, but the absence of metal axle is a design mistake. In the old design all the weight was supported by the underside of the frame and the design was practically indestructible. I guarantee you the new wheels will wear out their mounts and the plastic halfaxles will be prone to warping under real weight (not the hilarious excuse for a railcar they used in their "experiment"). I absolutely do not trust the new wheels, unfortunately the results will only emerge maybe a year or two down the line after people run these for a couple hundred hours.
