Bandai does printed faces, because it's cheaper to stick on a sticker than doing complex paint apps like you see on Mezco, Mezco, 4H, NECA, DCC, former Revoltechs, Diamond, PAKs (whether they do a good job or not is moot, since they spent more money to do their ugly shading), etc.
A paint wipe over sculpted lines is easier and cheaper to do than painting them on correctly.
Painted in lines is accurate to comic Spider-Man's costume. Sculpted is for the textured look you see on movies and Mezco's doll's.
