The Arnval kit wasn't originally intended to be a MD because while MD didn't exist yet, it was definitely in the works in tandem with their planned Busou Shinki kits. Those were just going to be Koto's versions of Konami's established characters using Apsy's independent Machineca figure base, since the original MMS figure design that Shinkis used was proprietary to Konami. Apsy was already working on this kit base as something that any company could adapt, that's how it also ended up as the base for Alphamax's Dark Advent and Goodsmile's Chitocerium. He knew the line was dead at Konami but wanted to continue it elsewhere, but at the same time was helping to start a new comparable but legally distinct franchise that Konami wasn't involved in.
