With all due respect to Faber, I think that it's better to see both as Noble Kiril in two different variants, like Lhikan's Hau.
So I actually follow your idea. It is morbidly poetic if Dekar of all people, a Noble Kiril wearer, is chosen to reincarnate into Hydraxon, a Great Kiril wearer. It's like a grim twist on the Matoran-Toa evolution. Greg will never canonize it, but who cares?
