>>9864999>>9864962And to expand on this a little, I have never felt like Mafex has a very good grasp on musculature. When I look at my ASM2 figure, it mostly just looks like a collection of tubes coaxed into a vague Spiderman shape. There is no real muscle definition or indication of anatomy, nearly every limb piece is just a slightly bulgy tube. They improved a little over time, their plain Spidey is better, but it's still pretty primitive compared to most of his other toys by other companies. It's one of the most mildly muscled Spidey toys I can think of outside of simplified animated/childrens designs.
This extends to their spread hands too, which I have never liked on any Mafex figure. The fingers are just these slightly tapering pipes attached to a block, they feel particularly expressionless and lacking even compared to other companies with relatively simple handsculpts like Bandai or Max Factory. The finger poses are almost never dynamic enough either. Compare how they handled Miles' "landing" hand versus Sentinel, who shows not only adherence to the movie style, but also a great understanding of knuckles and tapering/bulging finger widths. I know this is an extreme animated example, but as I said, I still feel like Mafex has some of the weakest handsculpts of the "high tier" import companies.
