I would say the majority of his depictions, including Todd's, owe a lot to Bruce Timm's Animated design. His recurring appearances and striking storylines on that show are what really launched Clayface to mainstream popularity, he was relatively obscure before then. He was invented in the Golden Age and only made two appearances, and only a single appearance during the Silver Age. He was resurrected as an all-new character in the 70s, but was a relatively unimportant villain and not an integral member of the rogue's gallery as he has grown to be in modern times. He was much more normal man-shaped and sized in the older comics too, it wasn't really until TAS that artists regularly depicted him as this huge lumbering golem.
So again, what exactly is your idea of an "iconic Clayface look?"
