Opened up some of the botlets I got a while back. Glad I've been spacing out opening purchases because seems like everything just screeched to a halt with the bat flu shit.
Magic Square Streak, and Newage G1Barricade and Stepper.
I really like Streak. The sculpt and paint on him is really good for a legends scale and he has very few visible ejection marks (which is a pretty unfortunate problem with most MS figures). His engineering is pretty interesting, the transformation steps feel more like MT Downbeat than an MP Datsun. The only complaints I have are having a 90 degree knee bend, and the transformation not allowing Wheels onto his shoulders. I would have really liked to have molded fake wheels at least.
Next Barricade, honestly not that big on this mold. The paint work on him is pretty nice of course but he reminds me a bit of a Takara Legends repaint in that it's just a toy with a good paint job. Transformation does the job but it's simple and doesn't really do anything interesting, it's just Datsuns. Also something about the shape of his feet and torso make it always feel like I have him positioned weirdly, it's not really satisfying to pose him. Also not having a place to put the shoulder guns in vehicle mode is pretty shitty.
Then there's Stepper, now Stepper's a pretty good mold. I realize this is an old ass figure everyone already talked about but his engineering is pretty creative, aside from how the car doors wrap around his legs I like how the front of the car folds on top of the hood to compact things a bit (even if it kind of messes with Stepper's flame decals) and the transformation is pretty unique. I find his knees kind of weird though. He also wins back some bonus points for having a good weapon storage solution for robot and vehicle mold, unlike Barricade.
I think my plan is sticking with MS for my smol MPs, but I'll keep getting some of the more obscure NA repaints just to see what their stuff is like too.
