>>9600612Up until the late 80's it was pretty common for kids to grow up watching "adult" movies like gangster flicks, and older movies in general. a lot of writers who grew up in the 50's-70's talk about watching old gangster movies on TV. There's a reason Home Alone has the kid watching them. I think kids have lost the tolerance to watch older movies since the 80's, though.
It did get excessive, though. I remember Animaniacs had a Goodfeathers segment about a Martin Scorcese statue. What kid was gonna find that funny? The lead Animaniacs writer complained that Pokemon made the network stop ordering their cartoons because they could just import cheaper anime. No, its that kids preferred anime than suffering through some Hollywood wannabe writer's celebrity in-joke circlejerk.
