>>11352307I went in winter and every place I went still felt touristy as fuck. I still enjoyed Kyoto but the "spiritual capital of Japan" aspect was definitely lost when you have gazillions of chinks gawking at everything and blonde nordic tourists standing out everywhere. Not that I minded the latter.
Osaka Castle was busy so I cant imagine how insane it would have been in a more active season. I waited around 15 minutes in line. Was quite amusing an European style armory building sits right next to it.
I enjoyed DenDen town but there really used to be better shops? Saw quite a few of those generic stores that only sold prize figures so I'm assuming thats what replaced them. Stock turnover was daily in Akiba but DenDen seemed more static. I can imagine good things get picked clean everyday in the active seasons.
I found two random rare as fuck Damtoys Vietnam soldier figures for 5000 yen each. The black figure was completely untouched by the racist Japs kek. These figures go for 200-400 dollars on ebay so they were good acquisitions. everything else seemed pretty standard but Kotobukiya has a really good Azone/Pico Neemo doll store.
Winter is probably a better season to go shopping in the main citities but I think I'll go in spring next time to the more regional areas.
I actually already own one of the Vietnam figures but they are obviously army buildable. SHF Indy was the only suitable spare head I had lying around, GI Harrison Ford is pretty funny. Was able to use the duped damtoys head to make a custom Panzer commander.
