Then again, can't say I'm too bothered by it even as it is, and once decals and wash are on it'll be slightly contrast crushed as well. Your idea seems sorta plausible too, drawing the outlines and then filling it in is pretty common for painting just about anything after all.
No further pics of the Sukhoi for now, so here's today's other DIY job. A bit of an experiment, but if all goes well I'll have some elderberry mead come, hm, Easter or so.
