100% true post OP. Yes alot of the old original toys don't hold up that well, but to argue they weren't the most iunfluential and important toyline of the last 20 years would be foolish.
I still remember getting ahold of I think either the King Gainer or the Dante as my first figure in the line and being floored beyond words. Yes the sculpt was a bit gummy and undefined, but the way the revoltech joints were integrated and even the swivel joints were done was a decade ahead of everything else. They definitely got overtaken by lines like SHF and RD around the beginning of the 2010s, and didn't come back until the revival lines out now, but you could see everyone at the time copying what they were doing.
I just wish that we had something like it in current year. There's really no midrange priced figure like it. RD, SHF, Sentinel, and all the newer lines are averaging $80+ for any figure as an absolute baseline for not that much better engineering than 8 years ago. The only company paying attention to old mecha is GSC, and their lines are still difficult to justify because they're more of an SOC alternative than the same sort of toy as Revoltech was. I'd kill for another $30-$60 line that deals primarily with obscure 80s, 90s and 00s mecha stuff. Especially since there are so many series that would work fantastic for old Revo. I've been begging for a Gravion or a Kaiser Fire from Ramune since like 08.
