Crouching is a known issue and going beyond 90° for their elbows depends on the armor.
Like i said, they're just fine for their articulation and i thikn a lot of newfags exaggerate it as somehow being bad, since they were too young for their parents to buy them McFarlane toys in the 00s. Thus people like you only parrot the McStatue meme.
It's other figures in the line that actually deserve some of that reputation, like the non-Spartan humans, who did have limited articulation.
The aliens also had less articulation than the spartans, but were still plenty poseable, and as i said earlier, they're actually more poseable than Jazware's. A big issue with McFarlane's aliens is that their feet weren't sculpted flat and have some weirdly shaped feet too, so they have trouble standing.
