I kinda like both for different reasons, Back during armada starscream's day while the figures weren't so easy to milk (we only got one retool officially for arcee and it was takara into nightbird shadow) they looked damn good and were dedicated to who they were, while current day generations figures offer a more universal gimmick and somehow become more fun with more of them it did lead to alot of mold milking and not all of them were great like quake from hardhead (least Jhiaxus had a heavy retool from a. starscream)
If you can find an argument for say classics figures like prime be my guest, I like that they tried something different but too many limitations like nerf-a-tron having wings and gimped articulation and such
