>>9942002Got something going that might work for you, basically set your image reference to always be in front and give it opacity, then with your model, give it a material if it doesn't have one, and to make it transparent, give it a principled BSDF node and lower the alpha slider., then add a transparent node, connect the two with a mix shader to the material output and that'll make the model transparent (use the alpha and mix shader sliders to get it how you want it to look)
Also make sure you aren't using the rendered viewport, this method doesn't work well with it in eevee or cycles.
