I saw so many posing the arm in this floating way when they need to keep the arm and body close together. That's really all there is to it. And this is a joint they stopped using.
Venom and Magneto both have old school diagonal swivels for the hip articulation, but those are more limited rather than difficult. Limitation tends to make things easier.
