>>9459183>now that pre-boomers are dying and being sent to old folks homes? There's an ad that popped up fairly frequently in recent Model Railroaders for a retirement home in Pennsylvania that has their own layout, so it seems that some higher end retirement homes are becoming more model railroad-friendly.
>when an old guy dies, what gets sold/given away and what gets trashed?Typically the trains themselves are thrown in an estate sale or get auctioned off, sometimes with any buildings/accessories that are still reusable. Layouts/track are typically thrown into the dumpster.
>>9459294EZ-track is hot garbage outside of the purpose of getting someone into the hobby via a starter set, there's literally no pros to using it if Unitrack is an option for you. Unitrack is a smidge higher, but not high enough that I'd imagine it would impact your trains that much (and if you're doing something permanent you could just throw some cardstock under the switch to raise it higher up). I imagine the bigger issue would be the fact Unitrack's track geometry is so intertwined among all their parts that the EZ-track track lengths might cause issues with spacing.
