>>10560396> I was pondering why he lost all of his animalistic features, and realized that what probably happened was they started by making him brown to diversify the roster's skin tones and then realized those big old monkey lips were not going to fly on a non-caucasoid.it is my honest belief that the people incharge of these changes are so devoted to DEI causes that they have unwittingly wrapped back around to 1940's racism. taking the literal sky-ape and making him into a black kid could be brushed off as a silly one time thing, but outside of MOTU i've seen so many similar examples. take jack kirby's devil dinosaur and moonboy for instance. It's a valley of the dinosaurs esc romp following an orphan t-rex that was raised by some kind of sapien progenitor named "moon-boy". for whatever reason marvel brought the characters into the modern day but traded off moon-boy for "moon-girl", a little black girl who is also a super genius or something. The new pair even got a show recently and somehow nobody's pointed out the fact that they've replaced a literal ape with a black girl. Then there are other weird examples like making Kang the Conqueror into a hooting and hollering black guy, making hispanic characters into south park jennifer lopez tier "taco and burrito" diversity puppets, and making every asian character rant about how its not cool to find them attractive or whatever while also making them quiet kung-fu masters. It's like everybody's taking their cues from fucking minoriteam these days. Weird how we've wrapped back around like this.
