>>10551146>Haven't gotten into She-Ra yet but I'm more interested in Adam and friends as protagonists.Interesting. What fiction have you watched/read so far?
My rundown:
80s cartoon: dated animation and can be excessively juvenile (Filmation's Flash Gordon Season 1 and She-Ra both hold up better), but also some really worthwhile fantasy adventures like "Dragon's Gift".
Vintage mini-comics: run the gamut from "Frazetta barbarians with a couple techno vehicles" to more standard MotU with pretty interesting fantasy lore to utterly terrible (Leech, The Cosmic Key).
200X cartoon: the first time fiction was made for existing fans, it's absolutely packed with characters from the first 4 years of vintage toys + Snake Men, showcasing characters faster than Mattel could make them. Also tried to be more mature, but still not edgy.
200X comics: interesting, goes into the villain relationships more and occasionally used graphic violence (i.e. Icons of Evil: Trap Jaw).
2010s DC comic: the edgiest. One of the writers, Dan Abnett, was hired on the basis on his Warhammer 40K writing. Also notable for incorporating She-Ra with none of the good guys from her world.
Revelation: The 80s lore moved forward for modern adults... extremely divisive, but also short, if you want to form your own opinion.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2021): G rated fun, now an epic serial for the streaming era. Most of us here liked it much better than Revelation, but it's different from the other cartoons and comics in that the characters were redesigned, looking nothing like the toys you've collected.
