Of course you can point to the obvious:
>no retailer-enforced size classes
>no safety standards preventing small/delicate parts
>produced after the character designs are finalized, not in parallel
But frankly that still doesn’t explain the generational leap in ingenuity that we’ve come to expect from 3P TFs. Some specific tactics that stand out:
>flipping panels inside out to change the surface detailing from vehicle to robot
>folding up kibble to fill in the mass of the robot body instead of hanging off the exterior
>prioritizing perfection in robot mode above alt mode
It’s wild to me that HasTak haven’t poached the best 3P designers and harnessed their magic powers in-house. That type of thing happens in the tech world every day.
